Talking about the Future: Going to__

In English, the construction going + infinitive verb can be used to talk about doing an action in the immediate future:
  • I am going to study harder this year

In Spanish, there is a similar construction, and it is, in fact, the easiest way to talk about doing an action in the future:

  • ir + a + infinitive verb

Voy a ir al cine -- I am going to go to the cinema
Vamos a ver una película -- We are going to see a movie

The present indicative conjugation of ir is:

yovoy
vas
él/ella, Ud.va
nosotros/asvamos
vosotros/asvais
ellos/ellas, Uds.van
