A Couple Of Tricks and Tips to help you Study Spanish

There’s something magical about thinking with two brains. So here’s our first trick. Whether you’re doing a nature walk, driving to work or shopping, and something strikes you, think of the Spanish word for it immediately. Say you’re driving to work and there’s plenty of traffic. Ask yourself, “what is traffic in Spanish?” Circulación or tráfico.

Second trick: continue the questioning. If you were to explain to your boss why you were late, how would you say, “The traffic was terrible?” ¡El tráfico era terrible! Keep doing this exercise until it becomes a part of you and see how much your “reservoir” of words and expressions will increase a hundredfold. Your favorite stock may be losing steam at the stock exchange, but your Spanish will never depreciate in value!

And of course, if we were to give you a truthful answer to the question of how to study Spanish, we believe the old virtues of discipline, sacrifice and diligence are still worth their weight in gold. That’s gold as in “oro.”

Here are a couple of tips while studying Spanish:

  1. Take the telephone off the hook
  2. Stop as many distractions as possible
  3. Don’t watch television unless it’s in Spanish
  4. Concentrate and study fast!
  5. Memorize at least 3 Spanish verbs and 3 Spanish words and then write them down and try to form Spanish phrases
  6. Make an effort and speak Spanish as much as you can

Before you know it you’ll start to dream in Spanish! The tips can continue but I think you get the picture.
