What you may not realise, is that you already know more than 3,000 Spanish words without ever having studied them! There are so many words in English and Spanish that are spelled nearly the same, mean the same, and sound practically the same. These words are called cognates. Usually, the main difference between Spanish and English cognates is the pronunciation. Take a look at the following:
