How to Learn Spanish – Without Books, CDs or DVDs

Books, tapes and CDs may seem the logical tools for learning Spanish but think of it this way: maybe this method is over-rated. The answer to this is learning online through the Internet!

Let’s say you have a favorite singer and you buy all of her CDs. In the beginning, you listen to her CDs ad nauseam. You could stretch through a whole month listening to her songs, driving your family and friends bonkers. But then life is full of distractions or takes a detour.

You have to focus on something else – an urgent project at work, a new flame, or maybe a move to another city. Naturally your favorite artist and her CDs get relegated to the back burner. She’s still your favorite, but listening to her CDs would have to wait. Suddenly, there’s something else you need to attend to. It’s just a question of time before those CDs begin to gather dust and there are those two songs that you don’t like and want to skip each time.

The same thing happens when you load up on tapes and DVDs after you make the decision to re-learn your Spanish grammar and vocabulary. The fascination remains for a few weeks and you become over-zealous with your newly-acquired tools. You spend hours playing them, repeating after the instructors, perfecting your pronunciation and starting all over again. It seems like a barrelful of fun but there comes a time when you eventually reach a saturation point. The reason is simple: CDs and DVDs are like extra cargo. They’re cumbersome to manipulate. Fatigue sets in and in a few weeks, they too gather dust.
